MANILA - Are you wondering why "May SIRINA" became a worldwide trend on Twitter Wednesday night?

In the episode of ABS-CBN's "Dyesebel" aired on that day, a man catches a glimpse of the title character's (Anne Curtis) tail and exclaims, "May sirena!"

This sends the superstitious city folk in hot pursuit of Dyesebel and Fredo (Gerald Anderson), who is trying to get his mermaid girlfriend to a safe place.

What caught the attention of netizens, however, was the man's pronunciation of "sirena," which became the subject of jokes on Twitter.

Even before the episode ended, the term "May SIRINA" already ranked among the worldwide trending topics on the micro-blogging site.

Aside from "May SIRINA," other trends related to "Dyesebel" on Wednesday night were the episode's official hashtag, "#AngSikretoNinaDysebelAtFredo," and the character "Pinky Pusit."

"Dyesebel," which is under the direction of Don Cuaresma and Francis Pasion, airs weeknights on Primetime Bida after "TV Patrol."
