MANILA - For the first music video off her comeback album "The Nightingale Returns," Lani Misalucha went undercover as a "blind" performer near the Manila City Hall for a social experiment.
In the 8-minute video released online Tuesday by producer Star Records, Misalucha is seen wearing simple clothes and shades as she performs beside real "bangketa" singers Mel and Flor, who are both blind.
As Misalucha sang her revival of "Saan Darating Ang Umaga," passers-by started to notice her strong voice, with a number stopping in their tracks and returning to watch the performance.
Several brought out their phones and recorded Misalucha singing, while others dropped donations. By the end of the number, a huge crowd surrounded Misalucha and applauded her.
In the opening part of the video, Misalucha explained that the experiment is to see whether anyone still stops to watch street-side singers such as Mel and Flor.
Recalling the unique experience at the end of the video, Misalucha said it would have been difficult for the passers-by to recognize her, and yet stayed to watch her perform.
I'll always treasure this moment."
