MANILA - Change is coming to "The Voice Kids." On Thursday, it was announced that actress Kim Chiu will replace Alex Gonzaga as one of the hosts of the hit singing competition.

She will co-host the show with Luis Manzano and Robi Domingo. The newest season of "The Voice Kids," the first without pop star Sarah Geronimo as one of the coaches, began filming on Thursday.

Screen veteran Sharon Cuneta will take Geronimo's seat alongside stalwarts Bamboo Mañalac and Lea Salonga. In an interview with ABS-CBN News' Mario Dumaual, she expressed her excitement over her debut season.

"It's all in the spirit of fun. Nagku-kuwentuhan pa lang kami [nina Bamboo at Lea] sobra na kaming enjoy. We are just going to make it entertaining and lots of fun. But, of course, seryoso kaming coaches sa trabaho namin," she said.

The 50-year-old Cuneta, who started her stellar career in showbiz as a singer, also hopes that she can immediately leave a mark by finding the young singer to groom into becoming the next champion.

"I'm praying. Pero you know what, kahit sinong panggalingan, okay lang. Pero siyempre, since first season ko, sana sa akin," she said.

Lyca Gairanod from Geronimo's team was the first winner of "The Voice Kids," while Elha Nympha from the team of Mañalac took the title the following season.

A premiere date has yet to be released for "The Voice Kids 3."
