This will be the fourth time Dantes will be headlining a Star Cinema movie after "Segunda Mano" in 2011, the award-winning "One More Try" in 2012 and "She's the One" in 2013.
"After more than a couple of years nandito ako ulit for a project. I'm very excited kasi maganda ang tema at maganda ang kwento nito," he told ABS-CBN News after Tuesday's press conference.
"Kumbaga it's happening talaga sa mga relationships na nakikita natin around us. So very appropriate din na ma-tackle siya. I'm very excited ako doon sa kwento, sa tema, sa kabuuan, siyempre sa mga kasamahan ko and, of course, I'm excited to work with Star Cinema once again," he said.
"The Unmarried Wife" also reunites Dantes with Panganiban, who played his wife in the drama "One More Try."
"Alam naman natin kung gaano kahusay si Angelica. 'Yung experience ko working with her was fantastic and one of the most memorable projects I've done. So, I'm sure with this kind of material ay mas magiging excited ako," Dantes said.
In "The Unmarried Wife," Panganiban plays a woman torn between her husband and her lover.
Asked if he would like to portray the character of the husband or the lover, Dantes replied: "Siyempre hanggat maari ay malayo sa totoong buhay kaya challenge sa amin ni Paulo 'yon. Kakabigay lang sa amin ng istorya; nasa proseso pa kami para buuin kung ano ang ibinigay sa amin. So the journey begins kung sino man sa amin 'yon (ni Paulo)."
The movie will be directed by Maryo J. De Los Reyes.
