MANILA -- ABS-CBN welcomed back actress Bela Padilla on Monday as she officially re-joined the Kapamilya network.
In a press conference, Dreamscape introduced Padilla as the leading lady of actor Coco Martin in the upcoming series "Ang Probinsiyano," which is based on the 1997 Fernando Poe Jr. movie.
Padilla, then known as Krista Valle, was part of Star Magic Batch 15. But in 2010, she signed up with rival network GMA-7 and changed her name to Bela Padilla.
"Medyo alam ko na lilipat talaga ako kaso may movie so medyo na-stop sandali, hindi ako nakalipat kaagad," she said, referring to the movie "Sugo," which she is still finishing.
Padilla admitted that she was surprised when she was cast in "Ang Probinsiyano" as Carmen, the wife of Martin's character.
"Nung sinabi sa akin na ito ang una kong project, medyo nagulat ako. Kasi nung alam kong lilipat ako, lagi naming jino-joke paano kung ang unang soap ang ibigay sa iyo si Coco ang kasama mo. So laging joke
'yon tapos lagi ako, 'Hindi, hindi totoo 'yan.' So parang what an honor na my first show in ABS-CBN is with Coco Martin," she said.
"I think things just fell into place. I'd been waiting for this to happen. Now it's finally here. I'm excited to work," she added.
