MANILA — Unique Salonga and IV of Spades took turns on stage Wednesday night during the MYX Music Awards, just moments after the former band member appeared to walk out of a red-carpet interview where he was asked about his relationship with the group.
Salonga was among the nominees and guest performers at the awards ceremony, while IV of Spades was one of the winners of the night, specifically in the Rock Video of the Year category where their ex-vocalist was also nominated.
IV of Spades — composed of Zild Benitez, Blaster Silonga, and Badjao de Castro — received the trophy several segments before Salonga performed an acoustic rendition of his single “Sino” on the same stage.
The trio, during a separate red-carpet interview before the show, was similarly evasive when the topic of communicating with Salonga was brought up.
Silonga, in particular, shifted the topic back to their nomination without giving a direct answer as to whether they were still on speaking terms with Salonga.
IV of Spades, as a quartet with Salonga, achieved mainstream breakthrough in 2018 with the mammoth hit “Mundo.”
That same year, in May, the band announced Salonga’s departure to pursue “personal endeavors.”
Since the separation, Salonga and IV of Spades have released respective albums — “Grandma” and “ClapClapClap!”.
