MANILA - Sarah Geronimo is hoping that people will see her as a "serious" actress in her newest movie, "Maybe this Time."
Geronimo made the statement during the press conference for the movie, where she stars alongside "Teleserye King" Coco Martin.
The singer-actress, who is dubbed as the country's "Pop Star Princess," said she hopes to go beyond her "pa-tweetums" image.
Sana this time, ma-appreciate ng tao ang aking effort, na nag-level up ang aking acting skills," Geronimo said.
She went on to say that she can relate to her character in "Maybe this Time."
Siguro 95% dapat laging in love -- in love mabuhay, in love na maging masaya," she said.
Martin, for his part, praised Geronimo, saying that she mas matured as an actress.
The two last worked together in the defunct television series "Idol."
Martin also commended Geronimo's rendition of the song "Maybe This Time," which is used in their movie.
"Kapag pinakinggan mo siya, kahit ayaw mong ma-in love, kapag pinapakinggan mo siya ay parang pakiramdam mo in love ka," he said.
"Maybe This Time," directed by Jerry Lopez Sineneng, will hit theaters nationwide on May 28.
