MANILA — ABS-CBN's "Halalan 2019: Ipanalo ang Boses ng Pilipino" was the most watched election coverage in the country, and was a dominant presence on digital platforms and social media, with nearly 50 million page views and multiple trending topics.
The TV special of ABS-CBN News for the 2019 elections swept the entire day of May 13 as the most preferred coverage in the Philippines, according to data from Kantar Media.
Notably, "TV Patrol" registered a nationwide rating of 29.2%, 10 percentage-points ahead of its rival program's 19.9%.
Throughout the day, ABS-CBN's "Halalan 2019" drew more viewers: the early morning telecast earned 5.7 % versus GMA's 5.4%, and the afternoon telecast rated 12.7% versus GMA's 9.8%.
Meanwhile, the Kapamilya network's late-night coverage on "Bandila" was also preferred by viewers, garnering a 6%, ahead of GMA's 5.1 %.
Online, ABS-CBN News Digital drew a combined 46.7 million page views from May 13 to May 14 — 434% more than the average daily views.
Its interactive and real-time results page for the elections — halalanresults.abs-cbn.com — meanwhile earned 25.9 million page views during the same period.
The preference of Kapamilya viewers also translated to social media, with ABS-CBN News' hashtags #Halalan2019, #HalalanAberya, and #HalalanResults ranking among top Twitter trends on May 13.
#Halalan 2019 alone drew a total of 276,294 mentions — more than the combined mentions for its nearest competitor's two hashtags that day.
