Residents of Chula Vista, California welcomed Filipino-Mexican-American singer Jessica Sanchez with open arms on Saturday.

Sanchez's hometown visit was part of her celebration after she was named as one of the Top 3 finalists of "American Idol."

Cheered by thousands of fans, the 16-year-old made her way into the Eastlake High School Stadium where her supporters waited for her.

Sanchez sang four songs during her high school visit before heading to the USS Midway Museum in downtown San Diego to meet more fans.

There she sang three songs, including the U.S. national anthem and the Luther Vandross hit "Dance With My Father," which she dedicated to her dad.

Sanchez's father is serving in the U.S. Navy and will soon be deployed to Singapore.

After the homecoming, Chula Vista Mayor Cheryl Cox declared May 12, 2012 as "Jessica Sanchez Day."
