MANILA – Imelda Papin is leading the tight vice gubernatorial race in Camarines Sur.
With 99.32 percent of election returns (partial and unofficial) already tallied as of 10:26 a.m., the singer-politician is only 65,000 votes ahead of Yes Na Yes Bañes of the Nationalist People’s Coalition.
The gubernatorial race is just as tight, with Papin’s running mate Migz Villafuerte only ahead by roughly 5,000 votes against second placer Nonoy Andaya.
Villafuerte is the incumbent governor of the province.
Meanwhile, this isn’t Papin’s first attempt to join politics. In 2016, she ran for fourth district representative of Camarines Sur but she was defeated by Arnulfo Fuentebella.
