Edu Manzano received 23,627 votes against Ronny Zamora's 35,386, according to unofficial results released early Tuesday

Edu Manzano (PMP) lost the race for congressman of San Juan, as 100 percent of the votes tallied from the 98 total clustered precincts.

The actor-host trailed Ronny Zamora (PDP Laban), the unofficial results released 1:19 a.m. Tuesday showed. Reelectionist Zamora had 35,386 votes, while Manzano had 23,627.

Edu Manzano appeared to have lost the race for a seat in Congress representing the city of San Juan, unofficial results showed

Manzano's bid to return to politics, after serving as vice mayor of Makati from 1998 to 2001, came on the heels of a high-profile stint as the villain in the top-rating primetime series "Ang Probinsyano."

His role as president Cabrera seen as a boon to his political comeback, as it also came with the endorsement of "Teleserye King" Coco Martin.

But Manzano's bid has been marred by a disqualification case from a division of the Commission on Elections over his citizenship — a decision whose timing he called "very suspect."
