MANILA -- Studying and working at the same time is no easy thing and Alexa Ilacad can attest to that, having done that herself.
On Instagram, Ilacad shared a lengthy post about her recent graduation as well as the struggles she had to overcome just to finish senior high school.
“There were so many nights when I wanted to go crazy and give up. I'd come home drained from taping at 5 a.m. then head to class at 9 a.m. with my hair still curled, looking like a zombie and ending up frustrated because my brain couldn't absorb anything even though I tried my hardest,” she began.
“I'd come to school to take 4 exams (which I only reviewed for the night before) all in one day then rush to an event after. Most times I wouldn't even be able to come to class AT ALL due to my schedules which made it feel impossible to submit requirements and pass,” Ilacad added.
According to the actress, the word tough doesn’t give justice to the challenges she went through while juggling work and school.
“I would just cry buckets because I was so exhausted and I couldn't handle the stress of cramming. I felt like such a failure and disappointment because I wasn't able to reach the standards I set for myself at the beginning of senior-high,” she said.
Ilacad said there were even times she suffered from low self-esteem because she couldn’t keep up with the demands in school.
However, with perseverance and hard work, Ilacad proudly graduated last Saturday from the Treston International College.
“This is a very proud moment for me because I thought I wouldn't be able to make it,” she said.
The actress then went on to thank all those who helped and guided her every step of the way.
Ilacad was last seen in the ABS-CBN series “The Good Son.”
