MOSCOW, Russia – For the third year in a row, Russia hosted the Moscow Spring A Cappella international music festival, which was held from May 1-12.
This year, the Philippines was among the participants in the 12-day music festival throughout Moscow where groups held concerts in various venues from squares, balconies and roofs to the city streets.
In the pop category, Acapellago from the Philippines took first place, while another Filipino group Pinopela placed third in the competition. Just Six from South Africa took second place.
“Gusto lang naming ipagmalaki kong gaano kagaling ang mga Pilipino sa pagkanta at gusto din naming ipakita na kahit anong gawin namin bilang musikero, it unites people at gusto naming 'yang gawin ng madami pang taon together,” said Zsaris Sedanao Mendioro, Pinopela’s beatboxer.
Pinopela told ABS-CBN News that government should give support to Pinoy talents competing in the international scene.
“Masyadong maraming talents sa Pilipinas hindi lang sa pagkanta, pagsayaw at sa lahat ng aspeto. Sana, lalo na ngayong eleksyon, maghalal tayo ng may supporta sa culture and the arts. Maraming possibilities ang Filipino talent, pero kami habang kaya pa namin, kami mag-strive harder for our craft,” added Mendioro.
A total of 195 performers from 26 countries showcased their talent in the competition.
