MANILA – For the first time, Toni Gonzaga met – at least virtually – Charlie Dizon, the actress who will portray the young Teddie Salazar in the upcoming prequel of the 2013 box office hit “Four Sisters and a Wedding.”
In a virtual interview as she launched her new online show “I Feel U” on Sunday, Gonzaga was asked how their first meeting went and her first impression of Dizon.
“Hindi pa kami nagmi-meet personally pero virtually first time naming magkita at magkausap. Sabi ko nga parang hindi naman ako ganyan kaganda nung bata ako. Parang ngayon lang ako nagka-itsura pero nung nagsisimula naman ako, hindi naman ako ganyan ka-fabulous. Ang ganda niya. Siguro komedyante rin siya kaya siya ang napili maging Teddie,” she said.
Did she give Dizon any tips on player her character?
“They are very excited. They are actually looking forward to it. I think they are very prepared. Excited na sila mag-shooting. Binigyan lang namin sila ng mga konting side stories and trivia nung nagshu-shooting kami ng movie and some tips that could help them sana,” she said.
Apparently, before the lockdown, Dizon, along with Alexa Ilacad, Gillian Vicencio and Belle Mariano, have been undergoing workshops with filmmaker Cathy Garcia Molina, who directed the original movie.
When informed that Molina always reminds the four actresses to do well because of the benchmark set by the original cast, Gonzaga said: “Maganda naman 'yung ganung training kasi kapag takot ka, talagang pagbubutihin mo 'yung trabaho mo kaysa 'yung parang relax ka.”
Gonzaga then recalled how Molina scolded her on her first day of filming for “Four Sisters and a Wedding.”
“Noong nagshu-shooting kami, takot din kami talaga kay direk Cathy. First day ko pa nga lang, nabembang na ako ni direk. Hindi ko makakalimutan 'yun, sa Tomas Morato, first day ko ever. First call ni Teddie. Pagdating ko pa lang [napagalitan na ako ni direk],” she said.
Last February, Star Cinema announced that the new movie will be titled “Four Sisters Before the Wedding.” The prequel will be headlined by Ilacad as Bobbie, Vicencio as Alex, Dizon as Teddie, and Mariano as Gabbie, while Giselle Andres will direct it.
The original film was headlined by Bea Alonzo, Angel Locsin, Gonzaga, Shaina Magdayao and Enchong Dee.
In that film, sisters Teddie (Gonzaga), Bobbie (Alonzo), Alex (Locsin) and Gabbie (Magdayao) gather home for the wedding of their youngest sibling (Dee). However, the four sisters, left with a foul impression after meeting the bride's family, conspire to block the wedding.
As they scheme to "save" their only brother, the siblings are also forced to face problems in their family.
The prequel will be set 10 years before the beginning of the original movie and it will show how the relationship of the siblings came about.
