Jaya has spoken about what she misses about her mom, actress and comedian Elizabeth Ramsey, a few days before Mother's Day.

During her appearance on "Tonight with Boy Abunda" on Thursday, Jaya turned teary-eyed as she said: "I miss her voice. I miss her laughter. I miss kapag inaaway niya ako.

"I miss the fact that she cares about and loves me a lot. I miss when she comes to my house and goes straight to my bedroom, knocks and wakes us up kasi gusto niya raw makita iyong apo niya."

She added that Ramsey taught her humility. "Laking hirap iyong nanay ko and she always says, 'Huwag lalaki iyong ulo, huwag mong kalimutan kung saan ka galing.'

"Kailangan iyong akala mong sikat ka, huwag kang maniwala. Kasi lahat ng sumisikat, mararamdaman ulit iyong sahig. At kapag naramdaman mo iyong sahig, kailangan alam mo ulit kung papaano ang pagkain diyan, papaano mahiga diyan, papaano lumubog diyan."

Ramsey died in October 2015 after suffering a hyperglycemic attack due to diabetes. Her death proved controversial as it unearthed a rift between Jaya and the singer's estranged sibling, Susan.

At the height of the controversy, Susan accused Jaya of abandoning their mother when she was sick, and had even asked Jaya to stop using the Ramsey surname.

Addressing the tiff, Jaya said she is open to reconciling with Susan. "At the end of the day, blood will be blood. No family is perfect. And kapag nagkakaroon ng rift, in God's time, everything will be repaired."

Jaya was speaking on the late-night show to promote her upcoming concert, "No Boundaries," at Music Museum in San Juan on Friday. It is her first solo concert in more than three years.
