MANILA – Piolo Pascual is thrilled to be returning to primetime TV almost a year after his last series, "Apoy sa Dagat," ended its run in July 2013.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News' Marie Lozano on Monday, Pascual announced that he will be working with Iza Calzado and Nikki Gil in the upcoming series "Hawak Kamay."

“I'm excited to work with Iza again for something that's going to last longer. Sa ‘Milan’ cameo lang siya, tapos sa ‘Starting Over Again’ towards the last part na siya. First time kami magkakasama sa buong show. And also with Nikki. I only get to work with them sa 'ASAP' tapos finally we're working on a soap together. It's nice to work with friends,” he said.

Pascual admitted that he feels more comfortable doing a television show compared to making movies, where there’s always that pressure to do well at the box office.

“Comfort zone naman namin ang soap and sa dinamirami ng shows sa ABS-CBN, siguro naman mapagbibigyan kami sa magandang time slot. This is a new concept na magugustuhan ng viewers natin,” he said.

Asked to share a bit about the story of the new teleserye, Pascual said "Hawak Kamay" is a family drama.

"It will cater to kids, more on the family, the kids who are adopted, how we adjust. I’m a frustrated musician and then naiwan sa akin 'yung mga bata na in-adopt ng kapatid ko. They are going to teach me how to love na kahit hindi kayo magkadugo, pwede mo pala ituring ang bawat isa na parang kapamilya,” he said.

Pascual added that he is not bothered that doing father role might diminish his bankability as a box-office actor.

“Wala akong problema sa ganun. It's kind of overwhelming when they said na apat ang anak ko pero okay lang naman. Trabaho lang naman and maganda naman ang story. As long as I know na maganda ang konsepto, something different, I'm all for it. I have a 17-year old son. These are kids. I'm okay,” he said.

ABS-CBN has yet to announce when Pascual's series will air.
