MANILA – The younger sister of actress Julia Barretto is now a recording artist.
Claudia Barretto signed a recording contract with Universal Records on Wednesday and is looking forward to share her music with her fans.
“It’s something I’ve always wanted to do,” she said in a video posted on the Facebook page of Universal Records, adding, “I decided that it was time to start making music.”
Claudia said people can expect her songs to be a mix of pop and RnB, and is hoping to have the chance to work with Yeng Constantino and Sam Concepcion.
When asked how Julia reacted to her decision to be part of the local music scene, the younger Barretto replied: “She was so happy because she’s wanted this dream for me as much as I wanted it.”

Claudia’s mother, former actress Marjorie Barretto, said in a previous interview that she will support whatever her daughters decide to pursue.
“She (Claudia) is pretty serious with her studies so feeling ko I don’t have to worry about her entering show business. Gusto lang niya maybe someday hosting, maybe singing, pero pag-aartista hindi pa niya nababanggit,” she said.
