MANILA - Phoebe Salvatierra, who hails from Olongapo City, is moving on to the semi-finals of "Tawag ng Tanghalan" after notching up her fifth straight win on the amateur singing contest.

On Wednesday on "It's Showtime", Salvatierra staved off the challenge of college student Sheila Mae Monding, who performed Sheena Easton's "For Your Eyes Only." She sang Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing."

Salvatierra is the third contestant to score a spot in the second round of semi-finals of "Tawag ng Tanghalan." She joins Cebu-native Christofer Mendrez and band vocalist Andrey Magada.

Maricel Callo and Mary Gidget Dela Llana are already in the grand finals of "Tawag ng Tanghalan" after emerging from the first batch of semi-finalists.
