MANILA – Gerald Anderson cleared the name of actress Janice De Belen, who is being dragged into his recent split with Maja Salvador.
Sana tigilan na kasi nakakahiya sa ibang tao,” he said in an interview with ABS-CBN News on Sunday.
Anderson explained that he and De Belen are close to each other because he treats her like his own mother.
“Ako na lang ang i-bash, huwag na madamay yung ibang tao,” he said. “Of course [okay pa rin kami]. Nanay ko 'yun.”
De Belen, 46, played the mother of Anderson in "Budoy" and Salvador in "Ina, Kapatid, Anak" and has since developed a close relationship with the former couple.
Meanwhile, weeks after announcing that he and Salvador are taking a break from their relationship, Anderson promised to make more time for himself and his family, as well as sports and work, this year.
In the interview, Anderson said his love life will probably take the backseat for now as he wants to focus on other things.
“Happy ako. Halos lahat happy din. Itong taon na ‘to. Puro trabaho, puro pamilya ko at sarili ko ang [focus] ko this year. Magpapahinga muna [ang puso ko],” he said.
In fact, Anderson shared that he is now into different kinds of sports as can be seen in his Instagram posts.
Asked if he and Salvador are still okay even after their break-up, Anderson said: “Siyempre naman. Hindi naman po biro ang pinagdaanan namin. As long as nandoon ang respeto namin.”
