MANILA -- ABS-CBN announced on Saturday that the thanksgiving concert for its hit teleserye "Forevermore" has been cancelled.
In a statement posted on Star Magic's Instagram account, ABS-CBN said the concert, slated on May 10, has been cancelled due to "environmental concerns raised regarding the event's venue."
The concert, dubbed "#MayForever," was supposed to be held at Sitio Pungayan in Santo Tomas, Benguet.
Viewers of the top-rating ABS-CBN series may recognize Sitio Pungayan as the fictional Sitio La Presa -- a strawberry farm with garden terraces where lead characters Xander (Enrique Gil) and Agnes (Liza Soberano) fall in love.
Sitio Pungayan has transformed into a tourist spot following the show's popularity.
La Presa, as the village is popularly known now, is located near the summit of Mount Cabuyao in Tuba, Benguet.
Since "Forevermore" debuted in October, the quiet village has become a tourist phenomenon of sorts, transforming local businesses and attracting unheard-of levels of traffic.
Prior to ABS-CBN's announcement, a petition on Change.org called on the television network to change the venue of the said concert.
The petition, posted by a group called One Baguio, The Baguio We Want: Clean Baguio, cited that Sitio Pungayan is part of a critical wathershed which is an important source of potable water for residents and visitors of Baguio City and neighboring areas.
It is not clear, however, whether the network's decision has anything to do with the said petition.
