MANILA -- Surely, this bit of news will put a smile on the faces of those involved in releasing "Avengers: Infinity War" in the Philippines.
The latest superhero flick from Disney and Marvel Studios demolished several records in the country's movie history with its whopping P730.1-million haul. Below is a rundown:
1. It's now the all-time highest grossing movie in the country
It broke the record after just six days, surpassing the P677.1-million total take of "Beauty and the Beast" back in April 2017.
2. Biggest Saturday
It's P151.8-million Saturday is the biggest in history. The figure is also the largest a movie has ever made in a single day by a huge margin, topping the P100.3 million of "Beauty and the Beast."
3. Biggest Sunday
The newest "Avengers" flick earned its second-biggest chunk of its business last Sunday -- a record Sunday haul of P148.3 million.
With all these astonishing numbers, the movie now sits high atop the list of the most successful movies in the country. It's followed by "Beauty and the Beast" (also from Disney) and four other Marvel Studios offerings, namely: "Captain America: Civil War," "Avengers: Age of Ultron," The Avengers," and "Iron Man 3."
