MANILA, Philippines – Former beauty queen and television host Charlene Gonzales revealed that her husband Aga Muhlach is considering running for public office.
Speaking on “The Buzz” on Sunday where she is a host, Gonzales said it has been Muhlach’s dream to serve and give back to the Filipino people.
“What I can honestly say at this point in his life, kino-consider niya because nasa puso talaga niya ang pagtulong sa marami ever since before,” she said.
Gonzales, however, said it would still be Muhlach who is the best person to give a statement about the matter.
There have been reports that Muhlach may run for congressman in the fourth district of Camarines Sur.
According to entertainment editor Ricky Lo, the Muhlachs trace their origin to Goa, Camarines Sur.
"It was in the San Jose town where Aga and his wife Charlene Gonzalez have recently registered as voters, and that’s a clear sign that he’s deadset on running in the 2013 elections," Lo wrote in his column for The Philippine Star on Monday.
Lo said Muhlach is getting "a big push" from Camarines Sur Governor L-Ray Villafuerte, who is a good friend of the showbiz couple.
"Aga has also been familiarizing himself with the fourth district…how many barangays it has, what the immediate problems of the residents are, etc. He has been meeting with his campaign strategists and leaders," Lo wrote.
Gonzales said whatever decision Muhlach makes, she will be there to support her husband.
“Bilang asawa naman, kung iyan talaga ang buhay na gusto niyang tahakin, susuportahan ko siya in any way that I can. Let’s just see kung ano ang mangyayari in the weeks to come,” she said.
