MANILA, Philippines - Critically-acclaimed filmmaker Brillante Mendoza wants to do a film with ABS-CBN star Angel Locsin.
In an interview with SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon, Mendoza shared he would like to work with Locsin on a film similar to Nora Aunor's award-winning "Himala."
"Parang 'Himala', parang ganoong project. May pagka-sultry ang kanyang dating, may pagka-Pinay na may pagka-exotic, at the same time ay may mystery ang mukha niya," Mendoza said.
It was in June last year when reports surfaced that Locsin is preparing to do a remake of "Himala."
According to Locsin, it would be difficult to match Aunor’s original performance.
"Mahirap po 'yon mapantayan, walang makakapantay. So imposible talaga," Locsin said.
"Himala" or "Miracle" is an award-winning Filipino film directed by the late Philippine National Artist Ishmael Bernal.
Written by Ricky Lee and Sergio Lobo, the film became the first and only Filipino movie to be included in the “Competition Section” of the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival.
The idea to cast Locsin in a “Himala” started when she read an excerpt from the movie in one of Lee's fan conventions. Lee had commented that Locsin fits the movie's main character Elsa.
Locsin, however, said she went to the convention just to give praise to the superstar.
Locsin is currently engaged in a new television series with hunk actor John Lloyd Cruz.
