MANILA, Philippines – The 4 former members of “Mocha Girls” who recently formed their own singing group were actually removed from the band, lead singer Mocha Uson clarified Wednesday.
Uson told abs-cbnNEWS.com that Hershey Delas Alas, Bez Lacanlale, Grace Oracion, and Heart de Guzman were kicked out of the sexy group after an incident in Guam during one of their shows there. She declined to give more details, but she said she will reveal the circumstances behind their removal in her blog when she's ready.
"Hindi po disbanded. Kumbaga tinanggal sila, na-replace ng bagong members. Ang management team ng Mocha Productions ang nagtanggal sa kanila" said Uson.
"They know it's going to happen, so they are trying to turn things around," she said.
The 4 were replaced by Mae dela Cerna, a former EB Babes member, Jhane Sta. Guiel and 2 back-up dancers-singers, according to Uson.
Uson admitted that she was worried that the report could affect future shows of Mocha Girls. "May tumatawag na at nagtatanong kung totoo bang disbanded na."
The singer said she can't afford to lose clients and shows, especially now that her mom is sick. Her mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy.
"She was diagnosed a month ago and next chemo niya is on May 9. Nago-organize din ako ng fund raising concert featuring various artists for my mom and to increase cancer awareness among Filipino women," Uson said.
On Monday Delas Alas, Lacanlale, Oracion and De Guzman announced that they left Mocha Girls to form their own group called Girlz Ink.
The 4 denied that professional jealousy and money issues were behind their move to leave the group. They explained that it is about time for them to make their mark in the music scene.
The "Mocha Girls" became controversial after photos of them kissing each other were leaked to the press and landed in a tabloid. The girls filed a libel complaint against the publication. The complaint was dismissed after both parties reached an agreement.
