MANILA – Miss World 2013 Megan Young will try her luck in Hollywood this July.
According to a report from the entertainment website Push, Young is planning to take a summer workshop in the United States so she can act better in English.
“Mas sanay kasi akong magsalita ng Tagalog or Taglish, so kailangan ko ring i-practice ang sarili ko sa English or acting in English,” she said.
“Kung hindi ko naman ita-try, hindi ko mararanasan. I’m only 27. I might as well do it now,” she added.
It was reported last March that Young signed a five-year contract with Innovative Artists Agency in New York to help spur her international career.
When asked if she thinks her Miss World title gives her an edge over other Hollywood hopefuls, Young replied: “I don’t think it will be an advantage. At the end of the day, titingnan pa rin nila sa profile mo kung sino iyong babagay sa character. Yes, nasa portfolio siya ng agent ko but I think, wala nang ganun pagdating sa casting.”
“I think it’s better na matanggap ka on the merit of your acting and not because you’re a beauty titleholder, although in some instances, it helps,” she added.
