MANILA, Philippines - When Willie Revillame announced that “Wowowee” was set to welcome 4 new female hosts, many people automatically assumed that former mainstay Precious Lara Quigaman was making a comeback.
During the April 10 unveiling of the reformatted hit noontime variety show, however, Revillame revealed that his new lady co-hosts were composed of Malaysian star Carmen Soo, model Kelly Misa, Star Magic talent Isabelle Abiera, and newly discovered Jed Montero.
Questions then arose if Quigaman was removed from the list again.
During the pictorial for her upcoming teleserye, “Impostor,” Quigaman clarified that she did not receive any offer from “Wowowee.”
“After noong second time kong bumalik, wala nang na-offer pa. Wala pa akong chance makapanood kung sino na ba ‘yong mga bagong hosts sa ‘Wowowee.’ Pero definitely hindi ako kasama doon,” she said.
In 2008, the actress was axed from the show after allegedly violating some house rules, which she later denied. A few months after her removal, she and Revillame kissed and made up but Quigaman never returned to the show.
The 2005 Miss International said she would love to host any show again, except “Wowowee.”
“Definitely gusto ko pa rin mag-host. Wala akong hi-hindian. Pero kung sa ‘Wowowee,’ hindi na,” she said.
She noted that hosting "Wowowee" would require her to be on the show six times a week. She said it would be hard for her to accept other projects if she had this schedule.
A different Quigaman
Meanwhile, from playing a good cop on “May Bukas Pa,” the actress is preparing to unleash her “kontrabida” side in “Impostor,” which top-bills Sam Milby and Maja Salvador.
The beauty queen-actress admitted that she feels nervous about her role.
She said: “Excited pero at the same time kabado ako. Nagpa-practice na akong magsungit at magtaray. Ibang-iba kasi ito sa last role ko sa ‘May Bukas Pa’ na mabait, mahinhin, sunud sunuran lang. Marami akong itinatagong galit. Puro paghihiganti ang iniisip ko. Kontrabida ako pero hindi ‘yong palasigaw. Tahimik pero mataray, parang si Meryl Streep sa ‘The Devil Wears Prada.’”
When asked about her preparations for the role, Quigaman said: “Papanoorin ko sina Cherie Gil, ‘yong mga magagaling talaga na kontrabida. I will try na baguhin ‘yong boses ko kasi mahina ako magsalita. Ita-try ko na hindi magtunog pa-sweet kapag nagsasalita.” -Report by Napoleon Quintos, ABS-CBN.com
