MANILA, Philippines - Young actress Jessy Mendiola, the on-screen partner of Coco Martin in television series "Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo (KTM)," is set to bid the show goodbye.

In an interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, Mendiola revealed that her character, Cristina, will be taken out of the TV series. She said she had her last taping day last week.

"Kasi may mangyayaring malaki. ‘Yong character ko parang siningit lang doon as love interest of Coco. Pina-extend lang. But then they have to stick to the original script na may mangyayari na big thing. Pero I really don't know kung ibabalik ‘yong character ko. No word yet kung ibabalik pa ako or tatanggalin na ako," Mendiola said.

The young actress said her newest TV show, "GIMIK 2010," might also be the reason why she is leaving KTM. "Pangit din naman na mature ‘yong role ko sa KTM. I'm a 23 year-old woman, then here sa GIMIK I'm 17 years old. So, malilito ang viewers."

When asked if she felt bad about leaving KTM given that it was her biggest break on TV, Mendiola replied: "Ako personally nasasayangan din ako kasi everyone is talking about it, everyone likes it."

Mendiola admitted that she will miss her co-stars, especially Martin.

"Si Coco din as a co-worker, as an actor ay sobrang galing niya at sobrang bait niya sa akin.  I learned a lot from him. Siyempre mami-miss ko ang show, ang staff, the people there, si Coco especially," she said.

New show

Nonetheless, Mendiola said she is excited with her upcoming TV project. "GIMIK 2010" is a remake of ABS-CBN's hit teen-oriented show in the 90s.

"I'm really happy. It's like unbelievable para sa akin kasi matagal na naming tinape 'yong first few seasons noon. We started November or October last year... Now, I'm really thankful na ito na," she said.

The "Boystown" star said she plays a “simple yet aggressive girl” in the series.

"I'm mataray sa boys kasi may nangyari before. But at the same time I'm sweet to everyone," she said. “I'm related to Melanie (Mylene Dizon) and Brian (Bojo Molina). Si Brian ang tito ko, brother ng daddy ko. And then noong may problem ako, nakitira ako kina Tita Melanie. Doon ako pumasok sa life nila."

GIMIK 2010 will also be the reunion project of the original cast of GIMIK. The original cast included Dizon, Molina, Judy Ann Santos, Diether Ocampo and G Toengi. -Report by Reyma Buan-Deveza, abs-cbnNEWS.com
