Sharon defends Kiko on Willie controversy

MANILA, Philippines – Megastar Sharon Cuneta came to the defense of her husband, Senator Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan, over the issue involving TV host Willie Revillame.

“Well I guess he’s a father kasi, he’s devoted. So siyempre hindi mo maiaalis sa kanya kung gusto niya mag-react,” Cuneta said.

Last April 9, Pangilinan made his stand known after Revillame threatened to sue his Twitter critics for saying their opinions about an episode of the latter’s show in TV5.

“Willie R threatns 2 sue those who criticizd him on Twittr. This arrogant, unrepentant & ubcirrigible tv host has gone 2 far & shld go. Sue me 2,” he posted in the microblogging site.

Revillame accused Jim Paredes, Agot Isidro, Mylene Dizon, Bianca Gonzalez, Tuesday Vargas, Aiza Seguerra, and Lea Salonga of "prejudging" him.

Revillame, however, announced later that he will no longer sue the stars who attacked him.

Meanwhile, Cuneta refused to reveal her opinion about the matter.

“Ako ayaw ko na lang mag-comment na. I think masyado ng malaki ang gulo at hindi lang naman isang tao ang dapat i-blame doon. That’s my pananaw, hindi lang isang tao,” she said.

Revillame and TV5 drew flak from various sectors after a 6-year-old tearfully performed a lewd dance during the March 12 episode of "Willing Willie" in exchange for P10,000.

The incident has also prompted government agencies to conduct an investigation.
