Kyla, dubbed the country's "Queen of R&B," came back strong with her first album in eight years, while pop superstar Sarah Geronimo is marking her 15th year in showbiz with an album release, in this week's Kapamilya music roundup.
Titled after her showbiz moniker, Kyla's 19-track record under Star Music was released April 15 and easily clinched the top spot in the local iTunes album chart.
"Queen of R&B" includes Kyla's double lead singles "Only Gonna Love You" and "Fix You & Me," and her rendition of "Proper Heartbreak." That song about a failed relationship moved Kyla to tears during her album launch Sunday, as she revealed for the first time her miscarriage in March.
Another fresh release in the past week is Geronimo's "THIS 15 ME," a 10-track album that includes the single "Sandata." Her recent sold-out anniversary concert shares the title with the Viva Records album, which is now available on major streaming platforms.
An industry veteran, meanwhile, is returning with an album that includes updated versions of her past hits. In a new music video released by Star Music, Jessa Zaragoza shows she still has the chops with the revival of "Ikakasal Ka Na."
The track is part of her "20/30" commemorative anniversary album with her husband and fellow singer, Dingdong Avanzado. The Star Music album also features their daughter, Jayda, herself a singer under the same record label.
Her first single, "Text," was released early this month, but YouTube viewers can now also watch her recording session for the pop tune in video, uploaded in the past week.
