MANILA, Philippines – There will be no more showbiz career for toddler James “Baby James” Yap Jr., at least for now.
Television host-actress Kris Aquino announced on “The Buzz” Sunday that she and her husband, cager James Yap, have decided to cut short their youngest son’s budding career in show business.
“My mom always told me that you have to allow your child to be a child. Nag- shoot na siya ng eksena sa ‘Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo’ pero napag-desisyunan na naming mag-asawa na kapag sa pasukan sa August at nagsimula na siya, commercial [na lang] muna,” said Aquino, who is the daughter of the late former president Corazon Aquino.
To her son, who is turning 3 on Monday, Aquino said: “At mananahimik muna ang life mo until matapos ka ng high school.”
“We will train you. At kapag natapos ka na ng high school, you can be a singer, a dancer, a performer pero kailangan mo munang mag-tapos ng high school,” the doting mom added.
Baby James is a big fan of international stars like Justin Timberlake, Michael Jackson and Lady Gaga. Aquino said Baby James’ latest favorite singer is April Boy Regino.
At 2, Baby James is already a certified commercial endorser and recording artist. He is also the youngest talent of ABS-CBN’s Star Magic. Recently, he became the talk of the town after he chanted "Villar!" during the campaign rally of his uncle, presidential bet Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III, in Bacolod last month.
Sen. Manny Villar is said to be Noynoy's toughest opponent in the presidential race.
