MANILA – Sunshine Cruz responded with a hearty laugh when prodded if she and her boyfriend, Macky Mathay, are planning to tie the knot in the near future.
Cruz said the court decision on her annulment case against her former husband, Cesar Montano, just came out and she doesn’t want to rush anything.
“Kasi nung September, annulled na ako by the court of QC. Akala ko okay na. 'Yun pala meron pa akong kailangang pagdaanan kasi may nag-file pa ng [motion for reconsideration]. Pero 'yun nga, just a few days ago, nag-email sa akin ang lawyer ko na talagang tapos na,” she said.
Nonetheless, Cruz said she and Mathay are still very much happy together.
“Of course pareho kaming nagsu-support sa mga pangarap ng isa’t isa. Happy lang kasi nandito na kami sa point in our lives na ang daming pinagdaanan. Kapag magkasama kami, masaya lang. We inspire each other. Ganun lang lagi,” she said.
Aside from her love life and her daughters, Cruz said another thing that brings joy to her is her inclusion in the upcoming ABS-CBN series “Love Thy Woman.”
“The mere fact that it’s from Dreamscape, alam naman natin na napakaganda. And sa ABS-CBN naman, ever since malaki ang utang na loob ko. I’ve always been open about that, na since 2013, when I was starting ulit sa buhay ko, they were the ones who helped me talaga para makabangon, para makapag-provide ako nang maayos sa mga anak ko. I am always grateful,” she said.
In the series, Cruz will play Kim Chiu’s mom and the second partner of veteran actor Christopher de Leon.
When asked how she plans to prepare for the role, Cruz said: “I have to lose weight pa and study Mandarin. Buti na lang, 'yung magiging brother ko dito speaks Chinese fluently so magpapaturo na lang din ako.”
ABS-CBN has yet to announce when “Love Thy Woman” will air on television.
