MANILA – Director Jeffrey Jeturian is hoping the independent film “Ekstra,” starring Batangas Governor Vilma Santos, will be considered for exhibition in the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.

In a text message to Santos’ personal secretary Aida Fandialan, Jeturian said: “Finished editing the rough draft of Ekstra last Easter Sunday. Napadala sa Cannes noong April 4 after na-lay-in ang subtitles. Hope we make it, kahit exhibition lang.”

Jeturian’s text message to Fandialan was published in The Philippine Star column of entertainment editor Ricky Lo on Wednesday.

Jeturian further told Fandialan that it was a dream come true for him to direct the veteran actress, who is dubbed as the Philippines’ Star For All Seasons.

“Please tell Ate Vi na maganda ‘yung movie and I am very much excited for her. Thank her for me, too, kasi ang laki din ng sacrifice niya para lang matapos ‘yung movie in time. Record-breaking! I’ve been a Vilmanian since childhood. Ngayon after working with her, fanatic na ako,” he said.

Aside from Santos, “Ekstra” also features Marian Rivera and Piolo Pascual.
