The mother of comedian Chokoleit was killed after a fire razed their home in Davao City Thursday afternoon.

Erlinda Aguilar, 67, mother of Jonathan Tabanag better known in the entertainment world as Chokkoleit, was reportedly trapped in the second floor part of the house in Coca Cola Village in Matina in Davao City during the blaze.

Two of her grandchildren, Paolo Presbetero and John Array Presbetero, said they were watching television when they noticed fire at the second floor of the house. They said they could hear the shouts for help of their grandmother. They said however they could not do anything as the room she was in was locked and the heat from the fire was already very intense.

An initial probe by personnel from Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said that the fire which gutted the house could have started from am electrical short circuit.

The blaze also hit two rooms of a neighboring house.

BFP officials were still estimating the worth of damage to property. From a report of Vincent Virtucio, ABS-CBN News Southern Mindanao
