MANILA, Philippines – The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has allowed the airing of Jeffrey Jeturian’s “Ganito Tayo Ngayon, Paano Na Tayo Bukas?” on the ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC).

The MTRCB gave Jeturian’s film an X rating twice. During its initial screening, the board said it “tends to undermine the faith and confidence of the people in their government and/or the duly-constituted authorities,” and is “defamatory to the good name and reputations of any person.”

During the second review, the new panel retained the X rating. The committee said the film "tends to threaten economic and political stability of the state,” and "depicts excretory functions in a patently offensive and demeaning manner.”

Jeturian’s film follows a newspaper printed with the administration’s recent controversial advertisements trumpeting their economic successes—from the time it is delivered to a homeowner to when it is used to wipe feces from the foot of a cart vendor. The film ends with President Arroyo’s photo on the crumpled newspaper.

“Ganito Tayo Ngayon, Paano Na Tayo Bukas?” is one of the 20 independent movies for ANC’s “amBisyon2010.”

The public will have a chance to view the films in the 5-part TV special of "amBisyon2010." The premiere telecast is on April 9 at 6 p.m. on ANC (SkyCable channel 27).
