MANILA — Actress Toni Gonzaga did not let pass a harshly worded accusation from a follower that she has not been lending aid amid the coronavirus crisis that has cost many their livelihood.
The comment was left on a since-deleted post on Gonzaga's Instagram page, where she shared a quote about the planet thriving and how "power, beauty, and money are worthless" amid the pandemic.
A screenshot of the comments, captured by PEP.ph, included one follower using an expletive in accusing Gonzaga of being selfish.
The follower was referring to Gonzaga's sister and co-star, Alex, who has been chronicling in her vlog and social media pages her relief drive for vulnerable sectors, with the help of her parents.
Responding to the comment, Gonzaga wrote: "so much hate in your heart. I hope the lockdown will make u reflect on how you speak to others. I NEVER broadcast the help we give. I don't need your validation and praise for it. Some people can work and help in silence. Respect that. Not everything is publicized like how u want it.
"After washing your hands today wash your mouth also. It badly needs it," she added, with a winking emoji.
While Gonzaga has largely kept silent on social media during the community quarantine, she has taken part in public service programs of ABS-CBN, including the network's "Pantawid ng Pag-Ibig" fundraiser and "Ligtas Pilipinas" campaign.
