MANILA - When El Gamma Penumbra finished its audition piece in "Asia's Got Talent," judge Anggun could not hold her tears and decided to bring the Filipino shadow play group straight to the semifinals.
The former "Pilipinas Got Talent" semifinalist appeared in the April 2 episode of the Asia-wide talent search. The group's full audition video has been uploaded on the program's official YouTube page.
El Gamma Penumbra's performance showing tourist destinations around the world moved Anggun to tears, convincing the Indonesian rock icon to press her "Golden Buzzer," which secures a semifinals slot for the group.
The members also turned emotional as they got praise from the other judges -- 16-time Grammy winner David Foster, UK pop sensation and former Spice Girl Melanie C, and Taiwanese-American pop idol Vanness Wu.
Another big group from the Philippines that got the approval of all four judges was D'Intensity Breakers, dancers who similarly advanced to the semifinals of "Pilipinas Got Talent."
They appeared in the March 26 episode of "Asia's Got Talent."
The other successful auditionees from the Philippines so far are: Junior New System (dance group), Gwyneth Dorado (singer), Fe and Roadfill (singer and comic), Fitri Cerado (singer), Echo Claridad (singer), Neil Llanes (beatboxer), Flexie Buddies (acrobatic performers) and The Miss Tres (singing group).
