Vilma Santos: Jennylyn and I communicate

MANILA, Philippines – Batangas Governor Vilma Santos only has good words for actress Jennylyn Mercado, the current girlfriend of her son actor-host Luis Manzano.

While she is cautious not to interfere with her son’s love life, Santos said she has had talks with Mercado, who she finds kind and very supportive of Manzano’s professional pursuits.

“In fairness naman kay Jen, napakabait niya, very, very supportive, at saka may communication naman kami ni Jen,” Santos said, speaking to ABS-CBN News.

The Star for All Seasons also thanked Mercado for taking care of her son, and reminded the couple that she is always there to guide them.

“Thank you very much for taking good care of Lucky (Manzano). Talagang nakikita ko kung paano mo siya alagaan. And Lucky alagaan mo rin si Jen. Nasa inyong dalawa ‘yun, andito lang ako to guide,” she said.

With the birthday of Manzano drawing near on April 21, Santos re-affirmed her pride in the achievements of her son, who is turning 32.

“My son is doing very well, I’m proud of him. Lahat ng magandang tinatamasa niya ngayon, whether with his personal life, with his status in life, with his career, sariling kaya niya ‘yan,” she said.

“Hindi niya ako ginamit o si Edu, ang tatay niya. He’s a very hard-working person, for that I’m proud of you. I just wish you happiness. Stay put, be prayerful and thank God for all the blessings. Keep it up, because you’re doing good.” -- Report from Mario Dumaual, ABS-CBN News
