MANILA – Andi Eigenmann admitted that she was alarmed when she learned that Jake Ejercito has supposedly filed a petition for joint custody over their five-year-old daughter Ellie.

“My God, ano ba iyan? Hello, lumalaki na si Ellie. She is five years old and before anything else, do you really think that exposing her to this kind of limelight, to this kind of ka-cheap-an, will be good for her?” she said.

The celebrity mother said she is only after what’s best for Ellie and she will be amenable to any agreement as long as it is really a “joint custody.”

"Pero sobrang as in magpapaka-aktibista talaga ako kapag sinet up nila ako or nag-ano sila nang hindi totoo or sinira nila ako,” she said. “Kasi 'yun nga 'yung tanong, di ba? Is this really what’s best for your daughter? Or is it really to bring the mom down and take me away from her?”

According to Eigenmann, things would have been different if she and Ejercito have proper communication. Apparently, Eigenmann reaches out to Ejericito’s camp only through his elder sister Jerika.

“[I’m open to talk to them], very much so. But they don’t want to talk to me. I understand they are powerful, they are wealthy, they can solve anything through more complicated stuff. Pero 'yung sa akin, alam niyo, kung nagco-communicate lang sana tayo, it won’t even be this complicated. Marami talagang misunderstandings kasi hindi tayo nag-uusap,” she said.

Meanwhile, Eigenmann also belied accusations that she did not invite Ejercito to Ellie’s graduation.

Sabi ko, ‘Ate Ika, can you tell Jake na sobrang welcome siya to Ellie’s graduation. Birthday niya. I feel like that would be the best birthday gift,’” she said.

But Jerika supposedly asked Eigenmann if their other family members could attend the event as well.

Eventually, Eigenmann decided to just give the other slot to her mother, actress Jaclyn Jose, since no one from Ejercito’s camp has contacted her to follow up.

Eigenmann stressed that she and Ejercito have not been talking for a while now and she thinks this contributes to their misunderstandings.

Eigenmann and Ejercito had an on-again, off-again relationship last year. The former couple hogged headlines after Ejercito confirmed that he is the biological father of Ellie, more than five years after Eigenmann gave birth.

Since then, he has been more open about being a father to Ellie, actively sharing photos of him together with her daughter on social media.
