MANILA — ABS-CBN on Thursday launched a music video that champions unity and hope, and honors fallen heroes and frontliners, amid the coronavirus pandemic that has resulted in a global crisis.
Titled "Pag-ibig ang Hihilom sa Daigdig," the latest Kapamilya theme song also highlights faith as an instrument to overcome any trial.
The music video, which premiered on national television after ABS-CBN's "TV Patrol" newscast, depicts empty streets around the world as region- and country-wide lockdowns, as well as physical distancing, are implemented to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Healthcare providers, military and police, and other frontline workers, meanwhile, are seen braving the threat of infection outdoors and in hospitals, as they soldier on in giving service to their countrymen.
Solidarity and compassion amid the crisis are also shown in the music video, including relief efforts from various sectors and acts of kindness that help ease the wide-ranging impacts of COVID-19.
"Kamay man ay 'di maghawak, 'di maaaring magyakap, sa puso tayo'y magkakalapit, sa pag-ibig kakapit," a portion of the lyrics go.
Despite the new normal of isolation, people from different walks of life are seen side-by-side with multiple screens, forming the words: "Don't share the hate and scare, spread never-ending love and care."
As of April 2, the Philippines has recorded 2,633 cases of COVID-19, including 107 deaths. Globally, some 941,000 have been infected, including 47,000 fatalities, according to a Johns Hopkins University tally.
In response to the crisis, ABS-CBN Foundation recently launched the Pantawid ng Pag-ibig fundraiser, which benefits vulnerable sectors and frontliners.
Images of the Kapamilya relief drive are also shown in the music video, which, in the end, declared a fitting tagline: "Pinag-isa ng kabutihan, isang mundo tayong lumalaban."
