MANILA - Filipino viewers, it appears, have a new weekend habit.
"Your Face Sounds Familiar," ABS-CBN's version of a hit celebrity impersonation contest that originated in Spain, marked a milestone in nationwide ratings on its third week, according to Kantar Media.
The Kapamilya program reigned its time slot on March 28 with a nationwide rating of 29.1%, ranking second overall, and on March 29 with 29.8%, topping the list of most watched shows for the day.
To compare, its competing program on Saturday, "Celebrity Bluff," only got 15.7%, while its rival show on Sunday, "Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho," only registered 21.7%.
The viewership of "Your Face Sounds Familiar" on Sunday was its highest-ever since it premiered last March 14. On its first week, it got 22.5% and 27.9%, and on its second week, garnered 27.8% and 27%.
On Facebook Tuesday, resident judge Sharon Cuneta expressed gratitude to the viewers of the program. "Thank you so much for watching and loving our show," she said. "You've given us our highest ratings so far over the weekend, and we are so grateful to you all!"
This weekend, the eight celebrity performers of "Your Face Sounds Familiar" will be paired for the first time.
Melai Cantiveros and Tutti Caringal will team up as Salbakuta, Jay-R and Karla Estrada will perform a duet as Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton, Nyoy Volante and Jolina Magdangal will take on Aegis, while Maxene Magalona and Edgar Allan Guzman will relive the onscreen romance of Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta.
