MANILA — One common thing among all the “Bayanihan, Musikahan” online concerts so far is that the artists perform for 45 minutes to an hour tops.

Martin Nievera, because he was having so much fun doing so and in keeping his fans abroad in mind, performed for three hours.

Nievera, who has been in the local music industry for decades, had no trouble filling his set that began around 9 p.m. on Wednesday, singing favorites like “After All” and “You Are My Song.” You can check out the whole online concert in the Facebook live video here.

“I know that the news is so bad out there. But again, we’re inspired by the frontliners and how they risk their lives for us,” Nievera said. “That’s why we sing, that’s why we perform —this is the least we can do. I know that with our faith as a nation, this too will pass.”

“Pray like you’ve never prayed before,” he added.

Nievera’s performance was part of "Bayanihan, Musikahan" concert series, which aims to raise funds for the urban poor whose means of living have been affected by the coronavirus crisis.

Among those who have already lent their voices include Morissette, Gloc-9, Spongecola, Ebe Dancel, and founding performer Ryan Cayabyab.

Prior to the Wednesday performances, the initiative has already raised nearly P14 million.
