Known for his wit and considered as local showbiz’s top comedian, Vice Ganda doesn’t usually run out of jokes and quips — unless he’s in front of his boss whom he has impersonated time and again.
Charo Santos-Concio, star of “Eerie” and chief content officer of ABS-CBN, was an image of a stern and somewhat disappointed superior when she sat across Vice Ganda in the latter’s eponymous talk show “Gandang Gabi Vice.”
She had been the subject of Vice Ganda’s numerous parodies, particularly Santos-Concio’s letter-reading duties as host of the long-running drama anthology “Maalaala Mo Kaya.”
Initially all-smiles as she entered the studio, Santos-Concio shifted moods as she told Vice Ganda: “Bakit lagi mo akong pinaglalaruan? Masakit, e. Ni hindi ka nga nagpapaalam sa akin.”
The stern look left Vice Ganda uncharacterisically speechless.
After a lengthy explanation and “tribute” to Santos-Concio, the veteran actress then turned serious, saying, “I just want to assure you — you have not done anything offensive towards me.”
“Masakit lang na ‘yung nunal ko, hindi na nirespeto,” she quipped, referring to Vice Ganda’s skit in his recent concert where he, as “Charot Santos,” pinned an artificial mole on several different spots on his face throughout the segment.
“Ako’y mapagpatawad na nilalang, pero huwag mo ako sasagarin. Baka masampolan kita,” she warned, in jest.
Santos-Concio’s first guest appearance on “Gandang Gabi Vice” was part of the promotional cycle for the horror film “Eerie.” It marks the ABS-CBN executive’s first collaboration with actress Bea Alonzo and acclaimed director Mikhail Red.
