The judges of “American Idol” had words of wisdom for Filipino-American singer Francisco Martin after his nerves got the best of him once again during the competition’s Hollywood Week.

For this round, Martin teamed up with fellow contestant Louis Knight and they decided to perform a duet of The Script’s “Breakeven.”

While their rehearsals went smoothly, Martin forgot some lines of the song on the day he and Knight took the stage.

Judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie noticed this and each of them had something to tell Martin after their performance.

“Francisco, if you make a mistake or if you forget the words, that’s okay. We do it all the time. Just don’t give up and don’t show defeat. You can go backstage and kick a trashcan if you need to. But don’t let the audience know,” Perry said.

Bryan, for his part, asked Martin if he’s always that nervous when stepping on stage.

To which, the 18-year-old singer responded: “Not really that. It’s more of me not believing in myself as much as other people do.”

Bryan then said they have “tremendous hopes and dreams for you guys” and Martin just have to trust them and the people they work with that he is good.

As for Richie, he reminded Martin that he is born enough.

“There’s nothing you have to prove except to yourself,” he said.

At the end of the day, all three judges decided to send both Martin and Knight through to the next round.
