MANILA – Last week, Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto took social media by storm after a video of them slow dancing while wrapped in each other’s arms made the rounds online.
Several days after, the two seemed to be at a loss for words when directly asked by the media to share how they ended up slow dancing.
Garcia, however, was quick to stress that it wasn’t something he planned. “Biglaan lang,” he said.
In an attempt to explain what was in the video, Barretto said: “From the very beginning kasi, alam nila na one of my favorite songs 'yung 'Beauty and the Beast.' Siyempre 'yung singer sa party ko, kinanta niya 'yun. Out of nowhere [hinila ako ni Joshua].”
According to the actor, he just wanted to make Barretto feel special that night because she was too busy entertaining her guests.
“Sobrang komportable lang talaga kami sa isa’t isa. Hindi namin iniisip kung maging kami or ano. Masaya lang talaga kami sa isa’t isa. Nae-enjoy ko 'yung family niya kasi napakabait nila sa akin. Wine-welcome nila ako,” he said.
If they are going to label their relationship now, Garcia said best friends would be the most appropriate.
“Nagkakasabihan na kami ng problema. Nandiyan ka lagi para sa kanya. Mag-best friends kami and may care kami sa isa’t isa. Nararamdaman namin na mahal namin ang isa’t isa. Kahit hindi girlfriend, walang label or kahit ano, ang importante naaalagaan namin ang isa’t isa,” he said.
Barretto, on the other hand, said they are just protecting their friendship and working relationship because they will certainly work on more future projects together.
“The two of us waited for this time to come. Ayaw namin ibalewala lang. We are enjoying it together. It’s nice that we are sharing a lot of achievements with somebody,” she said.
The two, along with Ronnie Alonte, were the stars of "Vince & Kath & James," the highest grossing film in last year's Metro Manila Film Festival. They were also paired for an episode of "Maalaala Mo Kaya."
