Senator Loren Legarda unveiled on Saturday a new media research center and library at the ancestral home of the Bautista-Legarda Family in Malabon, Metro Manila.

The facility which houses extensive memorabilia dating from Legarda's ABS-CBN News stint with the late Angelo Castro Jr., vintage photos and interviews with Nelson Mandela and others, will be open on a limited basis to students and other research-academic groups.

Among those who attended the opening were the senator’s friends from showbusiness including columnists Ricky Lo and Nestor Cuartero, and talent manager Lolit Solis.

Legarda, a multi-awarded journalist, started her broadcasting career as a reporter for RPN-9, before moving to ABS-CBN.

She was elected as senator in 1998.
