MANILA -- Singer Jay-R won P100,000 after getting the highest score on "Your Face Sounds Familiar" on Sunday.
The R&B singer impersonated OPM rock icon Pepe Smith on the show's Saturday episode and his performance earned a standing ovation both from the jury and his fellow performers.
"You did great. Saka ang layo ng genre. Kumbaga sa black and white, 'yung R&B mo, rhythm and blues, tapos rock, ang layo talaga. Inisip ko kanina, nung nakita ko na si Pepe Smith ang gagawin mo, sabi ko, challenge 'to. Parang sinabi mo na si Lea Salonga, magro-rock. But you did it so well, my friend, you did it so well," judge Gary Valenciano told Jay-R.
Valenciano along with Jed Madela and Sharon Cuneta are tasked to give their comments on the eight celebrity performers, who will each impersonate a different singer every week.
All three jury members gave Jay-R the highest score of eight points.
The other celebrity performers, on the other hand, can give three points to any of their fellow performers.
By the end of the episode, Jay-R got a total of 36 points. He was given P100,00, half of which he will donate to his chosen charity, Stairway Foundation.
Edgar Allan Guzman, who impersonated Usher, got the second highest score at 23, whileKarla Estrada, who impersonated Cuneta, received 20 points.
The celebrity performers will impersonate another set of artists next week. There will be no elimination, with scores adding up each week.
