"She'll be one of the big stars of ABS-CBN," were the words Charo Santos uttered when she first saw Bea Alonzo back when Alonzo was just 13 years old.
Santos on Wednesday recalled seeing Alonzo's potential in an interview on "Tonight With Boy Abunda."
"I was staring at her," she remembered. "I knew she had star quality. Bata pa lang ako ang dami ko nang iniidolo so when I spot a talent, I feel the star quality. And I told Mr. M (Johnny Manahan), she'll be one of the big stars of ABS-CBN."
Alonzo shared that she was left starstruck when she came face-to-face with Santos, who was one her idols growing up. Like many, she was huge fan of "Maalaala Mo Kaya."
According to Alonzo, she was called up because she fit the bill of what ABS-CBN was looking for at the time.
The two were on the late-night talk show to promote "Eerie," a new horror film co-produced by Star Cinema. It centers on a clairvoyant counselor (Alonzo) who investigates a student’s death.
