MANILA – Paulo Avelino will not just be starring in his upcoming movie “Ngayon Kaya,” as he is also credited as its co-producer.

The film, which is co-produced by Avelino’s WASD Films and T-Rex Entertainment, is an official entry to the first edition of the Metro Manila Summer Film Festival.

The movie will follow the story of Harold (Avelino), a shy college student from the province who develops a close bond and a secret love for his friend AM (Janine Gutierrez), a rich city girl who is passionate about her dreams.

However, their contrasting personalities would hinder them from taking their friendship to the next level.

Reunited after five years, AM and Harold spend fleeting hours together talking about their past and all the things that could have been.

“The role is very unique. It’s my first time playing a guy who is hoping for love. What Harold went through is something very similar to something I experienced in the past,” said Avelino.

“Aside from the movie being beautifully shot and lovingly written, it is very relatable. I’m sure everyone has a lot of ‘what ifs’ in their lives,” he added.

Directed by Prime Cruz and written by Jen Chuaunsu, “Ngayon Kaya” also stars Alwyn Uytingco, John James Uy, Donna Cariaga, Shara Dizon and Rio Locsin.

All the entries to the Metro Manila Summer Film Festival will hit theaters this April.
