MANILA - Anne Curtis' latest photo shoot for the upcoming ABS-CBN adaptation of "Dyesebel" shows her in full costume as the iconic "komiks" mermaid.

The photo series, posted by lensman Mark Nicdao on his Instagram page Monday, has the 29-year-old actress lying on the seashore.

For the shoot, Curtis' hair and makeup were done by Raymond Santiago and Robbie Pinera, respectively.

One photo from the pictorial, which shows Curtis sitting on a rock with the sea as background, was used by "Dyesebel" producer Dreamscape Entertainment Television for promotions online.

This promotional image, as posted by Curtis on her Instagram page, already has over 40,000 likes, as of writing.

Earlier pictorials featuring Curtis as "Dyesebel" include fashion magazine Metro's March cover story on the actress taking on the highly anticipated series.

Dyesebel, in the original comics series by Mars Ravelo, is a mermaid born on land to human parents, her mother a former mermaid herself. As a child, Dyesebel is sent away to live at sea with other merfolk after being blamed by superstitious townspeople for a series of disasters.

Different takes on the classic tale have made it to the big screen as early as 1953. Popular portrayals of the title character include Vilma Santos (1973), Alma Moreno (1978), Alice Dixson (1990), and Charlene Gonzales (1996).

Curtis is the second actress to play Dyesebel in a TV series, following Marian Rivera's portrayal in a GMA-7 soap in 2008.

Joining Curtis in the cast of "Dyesebel" are Sam Milby and Gerald Anderson as hear leading men, Dawn Zulueta, Albert Martinez, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Gabby Concepcion, Ai Ai delas Alas, and Eula Valdez, among others.

The series, which will debut on March 17 as part of ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida block, is under the direction of Don Cuaresma and Francis Pasion.
