The new fantaserye starring Enrique Gil, Matteo Guidicelli, Makisig Morales, Sofia Andres, and Liza Soberano got off to a strong start on Monday, drawing more than double the viewers of its timeslot rival.
"Bagani" began with a 35.5% nationwide TV rating opposite the 15.4% of "Kambal, Karibal," according to Kantar Media.
The number is on par with Gil and Soberano's last television project, "Dolce Amore," which debuted to 35.6% back in 2016.
The first "Bagani" episode introduced Lakas (Gil), the son of an exiled clan leader, as well as its fictional setting of Sansinukob, a nation home to five warring groups. The whole pilot can be viewed on YouTube.
In an interview prior to its premiere, Gil opened up about what he, his co-stars, and the rest of the "Bagani" team wanted to achieve with the release of the fantaserye.
"We want to instill sa mga kabataan po ngayon, na everybody can be a hero," he explained.
